Frank Zappa - You Didn't Try to Call Me
Pure brain salad surgery...Ralph Humphries..incredible drumms
Is there actually a good song zappa did. Cause I can't find one
Frank saw all.
Wenn nur die Frau wirklich echt ist, dann darf es auch ein Poncho von Sears sein ... . Wir schauen eben lieber auf die Inhalte. Danke fürs online stellen, wirklich ein Vergnügen!
I know a lot of people who would legit think this kind of film up if I put them on the spot and said “come up with an imaginative story”.
Damn. I wondered for awhile whether it was O'Hearn or Estrada or ... But it's Zappa himself on bass. It's gotta be one of the most interesting bass parts in Rock. Did he even know it was a bass guitar? Or was it, "Why's this guitar so .. clumsy!?"
Good day. Many thanks. Enjoyed of course. Bravo! Didn't forget to press the like button. Lots of love and greetings from country Azerbaijan
High School graduation 1973, waiting to go to Army basic, partying like AZ would run out of weed, thought all the wine would go sour,. Lets do it again!!!!!
Excellent!
Ce n'est pas de la pop c'est du ZAPPA il est le meilleur dans n'importe qu'elle style de musique { rock ; jazz; blues et j'en passe,} ( Guy platteau Marseille France)
Send this to mr. Figgins.
Fun and crazy album. Bozzio was a monster.
I've never been a huge fan of Zappa, but I really love this song!
Thanks Chris!!!
Frank, Eddie Jobson, Terry Bozzio and Patrick O'Hearn is quite a line up. The playing is superb!
Brilliant falsetto from a great album overnight sensation. Great song writer/musician/guitarist. The next album apostrophe was a cracker too!!!
FZ's take on a regular rock album.
The sequel be like ‘There is a rhino loose somewhere out in the sticks where no sod lives’
I have Shut Up N' Play Yer Guitar and this is my favorite on the album.
Poor Frankie - another victim of the CRIMINAL TOBACCO PUSHERS and their ILLEGAL TOBACCO DRUG (yes, still ILLEGAL to POISON PEOPLE, no matter how slowly you do it!), which should be BANNED, NOW!
It's true that frank recorded the guitars part with a pignose amp? I have one and it's sound more like a fuzz infact i use it like a preamp into a fender deluxe 85....
This one reminds me a bit of Algol's jam stuff lol
Sorry. Tom Fowler was only 23.
Frank was 36 when this was recorded. George Duke was 30. Ponty was 33 and Lancelotti was 31. Fowler was 28.
The number one song ever when your car doesn’t start…..
Je vois qu'ils y des gens d'accord avec moi UA-cam de merde pro poutine ( Guy platteau Marseille France)

Jean Luc Ponty comes through like a tonne of bricks, Bravo! Great work all around. Ants in our pants!
0:45 to 0:55: only some of the best acting in comedy!!!
Love reality based love songs
the short forest is pubic hair
Funny he really didn't make some big charts till Sheik yer Bouti and this stuff is way better. So is Apostrophe. So is a bunch of stuff before that. He was so locked up in legal boshit from Warner. But it all was meant to be. Album after album, no one on earth ever blazed such a trail of sheer will composition and live and studio production and no one ever played the fucking guitar like this.
“He’s leasing it?”
25 year old first time listener. Fifty-fifty and Dinah Moe was some of the most... I can't describe those basslines and modulations. It was a beautiful surprisr. I... I'm speechless.
Found this during a crate dig. Zappa has made a fan out of a young Boom bap producer
FIDO!!!!!
We loaded up a Jartran in Oswego with a bunch of people and half a keg, and made the pilgramage to the Manley Field House to see Frank and his crew...circa 1979ish
horrible overdubs
I remember my buddies and me singing this song at full volume (drunk as hell on Boone's Farm, of course) at the Drive-In. We cleared a HUGE area out around our vehicle! 🙂
My buddies gave me this cassette tape as a graduation present WAY back in 1981. Maybe they were trying to tell me something about my future by giving me the album that has "Wind Up Workin' in a Gas Station" on it! 🙂
Everything in this song sounds I N S A N E!!! That guitar solo: W O E H A H ! Mama mia, mama mia🤯🤠🥳😜🤪😝🤯😱
Ricky Lancelotti was the only choice to sing this one. More of FZ's genius.
2024 anyone?
And it's confusing to the mind
Damn. Ralph Humphrey really smokes on this. Of course everybody smokes on this song, but as a drummer I guess I'm biased.
TIL The Grand Wazoo was released before “Money” by Pink Floyd
He could have been a great influence in music if he just stuck to music instead of trying to be Lenny Bruce with a guitar.
Seems to me he's being Frank Zappa...without even trying, a huge influence in music?
Oh no!
Clamorosa
“What do you want him to be, a social worker?” 😂
